Differences between us and us

Whats the difference? I don’t know, neither do you but we should. In English you can get an intransitive finite verb but not a transitive non-finite verb. Or can you? I don’t know, there seems to be many things I’m unaware of.

With those things which are so close and you can’t tell the difference, like some twins you meet for the first time, you hear their names but five minutes later you cant remember them at all.

We memorise verses in the bible and then can recite them but can’t remember where they were from or even which book they were in.

The difference between us and us, I’m afraid is God. Yes that’s our difference, we all know roughly who God is, our creator, and whether you’ve heard the story or not you probably already know Jesus died on the cross for us. Yes that word pops up again.

So those “lucky” enough to have Jesus in their lives and be “saved” and become “believers” should be living different lives to us, right?

So can you really tell the difference between someone with Jesus or not? Well firstly these “people” should be living lives just like Jesus, living full, righteous and Godly lives.

Sadly not all do that, they call themselves “followers” of Christ and are willing to submit to his will, but outside church and cell groups they are just like the crowd, they float along just keeping their reputation low and unimportant, incase someone notices their “glitch”.

It says “Be in the world but not of the world” what does that really mean?

It means to live in the world with everyone else, but not BE like everyone else. Their ways, their doings, their examples are not the way to go.

Doing your thing, your life, your world. Media depicts the world as a rebellious generation, not caring about anything or about their identity.

As Christians we need to have God as our rock and pillar. The church is the pillar of foundation of truth. It all starts there, the fellowship, worship, communion, everything.

To be able to fall on him in tough times, in straggling times is what we depend on, and the awesome thing is that He is always there to take us back no matter how much we mess up our selfish, egotistical, arrogant lives.

So to be able to distinguish who is with God and who is against God is simple, you open eyes and watch that person for those five minutes and you will see how they live their lives, first impressions are an important aspect to maintain. So be diligent in how you act, you never know when there is someone looking in, watching , waiting for you to mess up. So keep him your centre in whatever you do and you’ll come out on top.
In the mean time, God bless.

“but be in good spirits for I have overcome the world” – John 16v33

Which Hallelujah are we?

Through dawn till dusk
We sit in doubt waiting
Whether the arrival of something great
Is really worth all this waiting

“Do not feed the animals” signs
And yet we still disobey
How many times is enough?
Our minds seem to be in reverse, with all this delay

There we are
Sitting, laughing and accusing
Why do we always bring each other down
And yet find it so amusing?

We want location
Furcoats, artefacts and ivory
We constantly give in to the desire
Of wanting to earn more money

With heat scorching down
And fires blazing
The escarpment struggles to stay alive
While the impala are simply grazing

Theres so much conflict
So much defence
Wonder why its all for us?
Since its us crossing the fence

They seem so harmless
The cheetahs, leopards and lions
Chase, capture, devour
Their strength is that of Mount Zion

Manifestation of prayer
Leading to the salvation of others
Your friends and family are important
Especially your parents, sisters and brothers

Bushes, trees and grass
Flood the fields and plains
The lion prides walk the savannah
Beaming authority with their manes

To open your eyes and ears
To see his face
We need to comprehend that only time
Shall take us to that place

We live in darkness or whats or
Not knowing whats around here
The omnipresence of God
Is imminent enough for us to fear

The struggle of the strong and weak
The elephant and mice
They are all in submission
To the almighty saviour, Jesus Christ

Open ears with a closed mind

People come to us and talk, we listen. We go into God’s presence and we talk, and yet again we listen, or at least that’s what we think we do.

To listen is to pay attention and take note. We at school or university and we take notes, listening conscientiously. That would be “listening”. But peoples view on the difference between listening and hearing is very screwed. We drive somewhere in our cars and we hear the other cars engines, now are we hearing them or listening to them?

We can be doing both but 95% of the time we are just hearing, the subconscious mind is acknowledging them but its not going to our brains. Theres nothing wrong with that, its just we choose not to listen when it suites us.

People say I’m feeling far from God.
Whats wrong with that statement? Actually everything, what they are trying to say comes across fine its just how they choose to say it. It is impossible to be far from God for the following reasons: He is the creator of all things and therefore everything we see and own is primarily His. He refers to himself as, the mega statement, “I am”.
Exodus 3:14 – God said to Moses, “I am who I am this is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent you.’”

When Jesus is discussing to two greatest commandments with a teacher of the law who gives a wise answer to Jesus’ question,
He tells him “…You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”
Now that “far” He uses there which is the far I’m talking about. Its not a measurement or a distance of metres or kilometres. This is more a further space of time and growth, because to go “further” with God is to grow deeper with him, you aren’t going anywhere physically, its all spiritually, and of course it all takes time.

Now many people struggle to “hear” God, and do you know why? Because we aren’t listening properly. God is not a simple God, He doesn’t make listening to Him easy, He is multifarious.
James 1:19 – My dear brothers, take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

So would it be safe to say that to listen better than you talk is a good thing? I believe so, its amazing how much you can learn about various things if you should be silent and listen. To listen to God and His ideas and plans is beyond any doubt better than if you do all the talking in sharing your ideas and plans.

Relient K sings a song called “Be my Escape” with a line that goes like this:
“I’ve given up, I’m doing this alone now, cause I’ve failed and I’m ready to be shown how.”

And yet our implausible God still wants to hear from us and what we have to say which is astonishing to say the least. So we can still offer our requests to God [ Phil 4:6 ]
Ephesians 6:18 – And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

By listening with open ears and an open heart and mind we will be able to hear from God and what He has planned for our lives.

The Vision

Hallucination, dream, visualisation, picture, delusion or just a figment of the imagination? Makes you think about the times you’ve received these.
Yes we’ve all had them, we’ve all got them. Lets just say it happens.

The vision I’m talking about here is not necessarily the one you receive from God, like having a vision as a verb. More as having your vision for your life set out before you.

God obviously has a plan for your life and wants His will to be done in our lives but if we constantly mess up and sin, then it won’t happen and we will loose out on what could have been an awesome experience or opportunity.

I have a view point on my life and what I’d like to do, my job, what I’ll study, my family, basically my whole life.
Then theres God’s and its gonna be different whether you like it or not.

Now what I want to come across in saying is that you could take everyday as it comes and just try to be prepared for what ever is ahead of you, even though you don’t know. Or you could have a vision of what you’d like your life to be like, your passions, your desires, the things you enjoy, the things you don’t.

Options whether or not you must do this or that comes down to you and what you are aiming for. The problem with taking each day as it comes is if something big happens, and you haven’t asked God to prepare your heart for it, mark my words, you will suffer.

So prepare your hearts for the future, of whats to come, you will never know when disaster strikes look at the Tsunami, saw that coming? I sure didn’t.

You gotta be ready for anything cause anything can happen anytime, be ready to share what God has been doing in your life, what He’s done and where He’s taken you, your testimonies are a incredibly powerful weapon, but fear not for you are walking with the one true saviour who will never leave you and never forsake you.
